I have Multiple Myeloma. I am only 47 and now I also have severe osteoporosis, caused by the Multiple Myeloma |
My question is, Is it safe to exercise, ride motorcycles, have sex, etc... with severe osteoporosis? Yes, it is actual osteoporosis. I fell a few months ago and broke my right wrist, left elbow and a rib. My DR is starting IV Zometa next month. He is afraid I will break my spine or a hip. I live alone and I don't want to be dependent on anyone. I am not sure if you are referring to the lytic lesions of myeloma or to actual ostoeoporosis. They are two separate conditions, and I know nothing at all about osteoporosis. Hey, sorry to hear about this. Follow your doctors advice, that's number one. Trust the way you feel. Look, you can live cautiously and miss out on some good times and cause those you love, who will be left behind, to remember you as one who was ill and cautious. Live life as best as you can as your body allows you. If you feel weak, take it easy. If you're having lots of pain, lay low. But on those days when you're feeling like you've got a little more going ... have some fun. Do it for your sake and for the memories you will leave with those you love. Live, love, laugh ... Maybe you should check with your oncologist on any precautions you need to take. But if I had multiple myloma I think I would do what ever I wanted ( maybe skydiving, swim with sharks). You deserve it for what you are going through. Good luck with it. My mom has been diagnosed multiple myeloma she has three compound fractures in her back ( 3 Vertebrae ). Hate to hear that man I really do. She has the hump on her back from it. They gave her a brace to wear on her back to keep from braking ANY MORE. Only thing they told us was to be very careful. I say you know what you're body is capable of the motorcycles i would not trust but I don't trust them any way lol I'm clumsy though. As for sex I say just be careful i wouldn't be hanging from the rafters or nothing and ask you;re Doctor. I think you can do anything that doesn't hurt you physically. Sorry about the MM. It is an awful disease. Good luck to you. |
