Osteoarthritis....please help?

Recently was diagnoised with Osteoartheritis in my left thumb (cannot bend it at all) and the ring finger of my right hand. So much stiffness, swelling and a bit of pain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I DO NOT take any medications, only herbs & spices. I do practice Ayurvedic..
Thanks so much :)

Try some of the creams with capsaicin. This will help the pain.

Ibuprofen in moderation can help with the inflamation in the joints.

I have heard that carrying a peice of obsidian will help osteoarthritis. I have neither forms of arthritis; so I don't know if this actually works.

Omega 3 and omega 6 are anti-inflammatory. You can get them in cold water fish, fish oil capsules, flaxseed and nuts.

Get Boswellan creme at the health food store, or any creme with capsaicin in it.

Drink ginger tea made with dried ginger and use turmeric in cooking. Both reduce inflammation.

Keep the joints warm.

Get a parafin bath to use at home.

Avoid stressing the joints.

Some people take glucosamine/chondroitin to lubricate the joints. It is a supplement not a medication.

Educate yourself about osteoarthritis by reading the site provided.

i have minor arthritis pains in my hands/wrists and i wear a magnetic bracelet that helps. i can help you find one and is relatively inexpensive. email me if interested.

1. Glucosamine / Chondroitin Sulfate,1500 mg/day

2.Ginger Root, 255mg bid

3.Cayenne Pepper - Topically for pain control only.

4.Boswellin is the first herbal remedy to have documented clinical evidence that it is useful in rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis symptoms.

5.MSM (Methyl Sulfonyl Methane),
6000 mg/day :2 capsules/ 3-times per day

6.Low pantothenic acid ( vitamin B5 ) levels are implicated in the development of human osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, as whole blood pantothenic acid levels have been reported to be lower in rheumatoid arthritis patients compared with normal controls.

7.Bone cartilage can鈥檛 grow or repair itself adequately without manganese - an essential part of glucosamine, which is in turn a major joint building block.

8. A good quality vitamin /minerals supplements - Vitamin B groups, 50 mg min., Boron, Calcium, Magnesium, and other trace elements.

I had Osteoarthritis from Lupus so bad that I was completely bedfast for 3 1/2 yrs. A caretaker finally talked me into trying an herb called Pycnogenol which over time has cured me of Lupus. I still use a lot of the things Goldista (the contributor above) mentioned. Vitamins and glucosamine/chondroitin with MSM are very important for you, but try the Pycnogenol for about 6 months and you'll see your pain go away. I have been taking it for 12 years now. It works.
