Is it really very neccesary???

if you going to have a jaw reduction, is it really very neccesary that we have to obtain Orthodontia??

then if it's very neccesary, after how many years can we remove the braces??...

Well, yes. Anytime you mess with the lower jaw, you mess up the teeth and bite pattern, and you can really mess up a mouth of teeth. Working with the orthodontist prior to the surgery can help ensure those problems don't happen. You don't really think you can just remove part of the jaw and not pay attention to the teeth it holds, do you? What will happen to the root structure? What will happen to the teeth themselves? Will it radically alter the bite, going from an overbite or serious misalignement to a more normal bite takes more than just whacking off part of the extra bone and wiring it back where it should be. The jaw is a big part of your mouth, half of it to be exact, and whatever is connected to it- your teeth, your tongue, the rest of your face- all of that has to be considered because all of it will be affected by the surgery.

yes, because otherwise, everything will get messed up again and you'll have to have the jaw reduction again.

If you are having part of your jaw removed, that has to affect the positioning of your teeth. Your oral surgeon would be the best person to give you specifics.

Hi,

Yes...

Cheers
