Allergic to retainers?

Does anyone know if it is possible for me to be allergic to my orthodontia retainers, and it causes facial swelling.

"Once in a great while, someone is allergic to the plastic."

Personally, I think it happens more than just once in a great while. If you never had a reaction like this before putting your retainer in, go back to the orthodontist and get him to make you a less toxic retainer.
