I will be getting the "Herbst" device soon, for orthodontia purposes. I already have braces.
Has anyone ever had the Herbst device? Please tell me everything about it, from side effects like soreness, to benefits. How did you deal with it in day-to-day life? Is there anything I should know about the Herbst? Do you have any tricks to ease the discomfort?

Thank you, and have a great day! itts no big deal, it feels like a biteplate, so talking's not too much of a problem but it gets in the way while eating. it helps bring your jaw forward. and it holds your food for you so you can have a gross, nutritious snack later I worked as an ortho assistant in college and I felt bad for anyone w/a herbst - it really looks not fun
I'd say get lots and lots of wax - sorry
PS - those things can smell really lousy when they are taken out |
