What do you think of organ donation? |
Im a blood donor, and about to sign up for platelet donation and to be a bone marrow donor. I also wanted to sign up for organ donation, but my boyfriend said he didnt want me to, because if i died whilst we're together and they needed my organs he wouldnt want them to. I think that it is amazing that you want to do this because of all the people you could help and all of the lives that you could save. If this is what you want to do I say more power to you! You cannot let anyone try to change your mind on an important decision like this. I think it is a selfless thing to do to be an organ donor. It is great to know that you will be helping those in need once you pass on. You both sound young and immature. You get to be my age and then you go ahead and donate your entire body to science. Besides this is just a body and your soul is all that counts and that goes to heaven or hell anyways. If it's something what someone wants to do then go for it. Personally i'd never donate anything but blood if I really had to. But it' a very generous thing to do. He wouldn't want them to what? First, i really love your name! I think you should sign up if you want to. First, it's your body and second you're not gonna get much use out of it when you're dead anyway. It sounds cruel, but if you die and decide to be burried you know what eventually happens to your body, so that's not a nice thought. And if you want to be cremated you just go up in smoke and are scattered into the air and partly into ash. If you donate, your body saves people, gives people a whole life back sometimes. That sounds wonderful to me. So I would donate. Maybe your boyfriend is a bit scared by the idea of you being dead altogether. Besides, the doctors aren't taking you away when they use your organs. You sound like a very generous, thoughtful person I don't understand your boyfriends position on this issue. Why wouldn't he want you to donate your organs? Its doing something good for someone else! How do you think all these people with heart transplants and other things live fulfilled lives? I had a cousin who died when he was 8 another little boy got his eyes. That little boy now can see. Who is not a little boy anymore, he is almost 22. But even though it may seem a little weird...that child would have never been able to grow up with the gift of sight if it wern't for organ donation... Congradulations on being so generous. If you want to donate, I say go for it! It's ultimitley your choice! |
