Organ donation, when are the parts taken?

Are any donated organs taken before or after you are laid to rest in the coffin only i should hate for my family to see me after i have been hacked up.

Please answer seriously as my decision to be or not to be a donor depends on it.

your organs are harvested as soon as possible upon your death. they have to be in order for them to be viable in another another body.

Don't worry though, when the organs are taken, they are very careful to make sure that no visible scars are left that can be seen. You won't be "hacked up".

Please, consider organ donation. Help save a life.

organ are take a soon as they can as they want to keep them in working condition

after your death, you are kept on life support, so that your heart etc dont deteriorate, but you are dead, its only the machine keeping your organs going, if it is switched off everything stops. being a donor is a wonderful thing because you can help so many other people. they patch you up really well for your coffin, so relatives dont see anything nasty, and also you are usually covered up to your neck with a shrowd. so yes help others after you are gone.

This happens as soon after death as possible to preserve their integrity, otherwise they become useless very quickly. Your family will not see you 'hacked up' as operating procedures are very strict and they will be very proud that you did such a wonderful thing - organ donation is a supreme gift to give to another. I speak from experience here - from both sides.

As soon as possible after the person has passed away - there is a time limit. However, they are made presentable afterwards so they dont look horrific to their loved ones. You would never know anything had been removed.

Your organs are only taken after you are pronounced clinically, or brain, dead. They need to harvest your organs while they are still viable and able to use by the recipients. That means that blood needs to be present in the organs to be any good. After they remove your organs, you can still have an open casket funeral. Your family will probably feel better knowing that you helped save many people with your organs.
