Organ donation,would u do it?

i was chatting with boyfriend last night cos there as advert about it,he said he wouldnt do it,is that selfish?

I don't think anyone can say it's selfish because it's a personal decision, but i know that when i pass away i'd love to think that i could pass on the gift of eyesight or improve someones life..

At the end of the day, i won't need them and i'd rather someone got the use of them than the organs be some worms dinner..

i would but i don't trust the doctors so that would make me think otherwise. i heard of them taking everything they could out of someone when their wish was only to donate their heart...this is wrong and upset their family

Yes, without a moments hesitation. Got an organ donor card as soon as I was 18 and am on the register.

Yes I would and am on the register for it. Your boyfriend may not want to do it for a number of reasons that is not selfish as he may have genuine fears.

some religions believe that the body is a temple and to donate your organs is destructive to that and that you need to be buried undisturbed...they have a right to believe that

I would donate my organs as i don't feel that way but i would not call someone who did feel that way selfish

YES. It's the nicest thing you can after you are dead....besides, you never know who the organs may go to (a family member, friends, someone who has potential to reach greatness....). (Happy Thanksgiving)

Yeah of course i would! i already donate blood so this to me is just one step further

i will... cos this can save lives but I believe all of us are entitle to our own thinking.. so if your bf say that he will not do it.. then means that is his thinking. just a matter of opinion. so chill... we are all humans.. we have different thinking..

I personaly think people should donate organs, after all if your dead you don't need them....and if you can help others live....surley this is a good thing.

I'm a doner - I've been a doner card carrier since I was 16 and even years before that I had told my mum that I wanted my organs donated if I died.

My childhood best friend's dad was a kidney patient - he eventually got a doner kidney and it made a massive massive difference to his and his family's lives. He had only been given a couple of months to live before the kidney was found - that was 13 years ago and he's alive and kicking.

In my personal opinion, I don't think there are enough organ doners in this world.

Yes I would. I carry a donor card, I dont see the point of hanging onto bits if I am dead, so someone else may as well use them.

I think it's selfish, after all! It could be him lying in a hospital bed gasping out his last breath for a set of lungs! I have given permission on my driving licence for all my organs to be donated in the case of my death. If I save just one life! Then it will be worth it! Have a great day.

Been on the register for over 20 years. Ask your boyfriend would he rather see himself or someone very close to him (you) die because everyone of the same opinion as he is? If he has strong beliefs that donation is morally or spiritually wrong that his choice and you should respect it.

Personally I think it should be taken for granted that all should donate, and those who do not wish to do so have an opt-out card such as us who wish to donate carry at present.

no not selfish i dont htink alot of reason to do it and not do it all depends on health matters and if for family i would do it anyway it they let me

Everyone has their own opinions on organ donation. On a personal note, I'm all for organ donation, once I've gone they're no use to me and if they can be used to help someone else live a life they deserve to that's good.

yes i defo going to be an organ donnor when i die, i would love to give others the chance of living when ive gone...the only thing i dont want them 2 have is my eyes.....coz there mine!!! xx

I have been registered as an organ donor since my 18th birthday but I still wouldn't call your boyfriend selfish. It's his choice!

its not selfish. some people just dont want to. would you?

I definitely believe in organ donation, you have no use for your body when you die, so why should someone else not benefit from a better quality of life?

I think the government should adopt an opt out scheme for organ donation, then you have to conciously decide not to donate, otherwise it is automatic.

I am on the register and am also planning to do a live kidney donation for a close friend of mine (as long as the compatibility tests come back ok).

Everybody has the right to decide whether they want to donate or not.

There was a time when I said ' no I don't want to donate after I die', it was only when my friend became ill that I realised what donation (alive or dead) could do for somebody else.

There may come a time when he changes his mind, he may not. That is his decision.
