Organ donor question?

Should those that arent themselves organ donors, who are capable of being donors, allowed to recieve organ donations through the system they won't contribute to?

Also, how many of you are organ donors, or have had organ donor relatives who have passed away. Do you know what organs they took?

My aunt was an organ donor; I know 5 organs were recovered, but I don't know which ones.

I don't think the idea that people who are not registered to be donors can't receive organs is fair because:

A. What if they are illiterate, don't drive and/or don't have internet access, and don't know how to sign up
B. What if someone has a disease like Hepatitis C or Cancer and believes that they can't sign up?
C. What if someone has a disease like AIDS and can't sign up?
D. What if someone thinks they are too old and doesn't know that they can donate at any age and doesn't sign up?
E. What if someone believes that their religion prevents them from being an organ donor?
F. What if some people really believe the myth that if you sign up to be an organ donor, the doctors will let you die in an emergency?

Most of the people who don't sign up don't do it out of a lack of willingness to donate. They do it out of fear or lack of information. You can't punish people or sentence them to die for these reasons.

I don't feel that anyone should be deprived of life because of their choices but I do think that there should be more awareness on the subject.

I can understand what you mean about some people being able to receive an organ transplant but, they themselves are NOT a registered organ donor. But, this can depend on their overall health, religion, and/or they just haven't considered it. Or, maybe, they just don't want to. Their decision. But, as the previous answerer mentioned, there should be more awareness to the public. In some states, if not most or all, if you are an organ donor, it is noted on your drivers license. My license has a small red heart on the front, indicating that I am willing to be an organ donor. I hope that this is helpful.
