I have a small, painless bump on my lip. Is it herpes? |
I have never had a cold sore although I have had canker sores. But canker sores are very painful while this bump is not. This bump isn't visible unless I pull my lip and look at it in the mirror. I have never had sex of any kind---not oral, not straight intercourse---nothing. Also I have never kissed anybody ever. I'm 19 believe it or not. About a week or week and a half ago though I shared a tobacco pipe with a friend could that be the cause, or is this nothing. I always thought herpes was painful but this isn't. If its not herpes what could it be? Thanks. Sand is correct. James obviously does not know what he is talking about. Herpes is different for different people. It can be really painful for some and for others they may go YEARS w/out even knowing they have it. If you're concerned I'd go see a doc before the bump disappears so they can test you. If you'd like to know more about herpes in general try looking it up on webmd.com they always have a lot of good dependable information and it's easy to access and understand. Good luck. :) herpes is not different for different people, herpes are open lesions, you can probably have different size open lesions, but it's not any different. herpes comes as an outbreak, meaning there's more than 1, a single bump on your lip doesn't mean you have herpes, and most likely you don't have anything, a lot of unexplained things happen to our bodies where we don't have the answers to, but don't assume that it's herpes, because it isn't. and i don't think the young lady above me read your question correctly, if you haven't performed any kind of sexual activity then herpes isn't even something to bring up, and to clear up any misconceptions, herpes doesn't go dormant for a couple years, herpes outbreaks usually happen within 2 days to 2 weeks, it's not normal for it to show up 2-3 years later, an outbreak showing up 2-3 years later AFTER your first outbreak from just being infected is more likely. Cold sores usually have some sort of pain and are noticeable. It sounds like it could be a pimple? That really sounds like a pimple. Or maybe an ingrown hair. Herpes is more of a blister. My best friend has it and i've heard its really painful. Im sure its nothing but if its bothering you, go see your doctor. |
