Does white lesions on lower right gum and cheekl mean oral cancer?

My son has been referred to an oral surgeon possibly biopsy to be done this friday. He is only 16 has been chewing and getting it from friends at school whos parents buy it for them.I am scared to death a nervous wreck .He is my baby and my only child .I am scared of what i've read on line and that the dentist didint like the looks of it.On his lower gums his teeth are all white but you can see through his gum tissue like it is transparent .

White lesions that could be cancerous is called leukoplakia...any white lesions that do not resolve itself in two weeks should be evaluated and considered for a biopsy to obtain a definitive diagnosis.
Early detection saves lives.
