Why don't people believe that you can't get throat cancer from oral sex?

http://www.lifescript.com/channels/healt...

Probably because that statement makes it seem like oral sex causes throat cancer.

It doesn't.

Rather, HPV in the throat increases likelihood of getting throat cancer. Now, if you said "Why don't people believe that sex which can spread HPV will increase your chances of getting cancer?", I'd be scratching my head dumbfoundedly right along with you. But it just isn't true that performing oral sex will cause you cancer- for example, it won't do that at all between two clean, disease-free people engaging in oral sex.

Hope that helps.

because you cant

because it is fairly new news.... it isn;t exactly the oral sex that gives one the cancer - it is the HPV

Can you?

You can -- indirectly..... if you get the HPV virus through oral sex....
