It depends on if the patient is able to undergo treatment and work too or not. You will need to apply and supply all medical records including a letter from your oncologist. Depending on your situation you should hear back from them within a week to a month . . sometimes its longer so the sooner you apply the better.

Disability benefits are assigned to those who are deemed unable to work due to illness. Physical or mental.
There will be a determination wether you qualify or not.
