What are some early signs of oral cancer?

my husband has found a lump in his mouth and is worried
anything to put him at ease

its on his gum

the last thing a doctor will think about is cancer!there are many things that should be ruled out before suspecting cancer. It would be better if you had specified the location of the lump.it could be just an inflamed lymph node it could be salivary stone etc even tumors could be benign.I really suggest that he see a doctor soon.cz even if it was something bad (touch wood) it's still can curable at early stages.

The earliest sign is when your doctor tells you you have oral cancer. So I would suggest that he see a doctor asap. Hopefully it's not cancer and the doctor can put your husbands mind at ease. If it is cancer he can start treatments asap to hopefully get rid of it.

tell him to go to the doctor/dentist for some peace of mind and then have it removed

he should go to see a doctor,
its better to be sure than in doubt,
and better than a professional to tell you,

That is not likely to be cancer. Could be a cold sore or a canker sore. Often from a new toothbrush or using someone else's toothbrush.

ouch.

wow, he should see a dentist.
