Is there another way to treat oral cancer beside surgery?

Is there another way to treat oral cancer beside surgery?

Yes. There is a less invasive type called Proton Beam therapy that may be indicated for some types of facial cancers. There are few centers in the US where this treatment is located. You can check with your oncologist to see if the patient is a candidate for this type of treatment.

Radiation and chemo.

Radiation and or chemo.

It depends on the location.

Surgery doesn't have to be deforming...most of the time if the surgery is going to mess up their face then they will choose a different type of treatment.

SOme locations they will have to do surgery and others they cant do surgery. If it has spread to the lymph nodes or to other organs or close by the primary location then surgery is the best because you dont want it ot continue to spread.
