What are opiates?

Where do they come from? Could it be possible for someone to test positive for opiate addiction even though that person has not a clue about what opiates are?

Opiates are drugs that have been derived from the opium plant. Main opiates are codeine, morphine, thebaine, heroin, and papaverine.

It is possible for someone to test positive for opiate use even if he hasn't used heroin or morphine. It could be because the food he has eaten contains poppy seeds. However, there are some poppy plants that have nothing to do with opiates.

Some allergy medications will make you test positive as will some foods.Poppy plants produce opium which produces opiates.
