If Opiates make people feel so good?

Why are they illegal? Doesn't it seem like anything that makes you feel wonderful is not allowed?

It makes you feel so good that it leads to a deeper addiction from constant use and a habit that is hard to kick.my guess is it wouldn't make allot of money if it was legal.in Amsterdam or Sweden it maybe legal to use the drug. all drugs should be legalized and let the government regulate the drugs use and take away the demand for the drug.

They are addictive and you will need more and more of them.They affect the brain and the heart and will kill you eventually.

They are illegal, WITHOUT a doctor's prescription. They are used in TONS of the pain medicines that we use on a daily basis. alcohol is still legal remember?

They're illegal because they can easily kill you. Playing video games is fun, but not life-threatening.

Also they'll destroy your liver and probably other organs in general. Also since they probably wouldn't be good to do on your break at work or before you got in a car.

Have you ever seen a heroin addict? People who are really addicted to bad drugs are all skinny and their skin is messed up, basically it is very obvious that they are dying and they don't usually care, or they CAN'T do anything about it.

Primarily it's due to the addictive nature of them. They have a place if used properly. There are plenty of people in chronic pain that need them. They aren't all herion addicts. They can be more dangereous than alcohol if used to excess. If they were legal it would probably reduce crime, but that's a particular good reason to allow people to ruin there lives. Alcohol causes enough problems, we don't need this also.

Opiates are legal. You just have to have a prescription for them. It's only illegal to buy them off the street or otherwise obtain them without a prescription.

If you take them as directed for genuine pain, they only make you "feel good" because you are not in pain. Patients get euphoria from narcotic pain meds when the medication is stronger than the pain. I take Oxycontin and Oxy IR. If my husband took it, he would either be stoned out of his mind, or die from the dosage I take, but for me it just kills the pain, doesn't make me drowsy, euphoric or anything except normal.

Opiates don't make you feel wonderful. I've been taking them for 8 years for pain and they don't even take the pain away sometimes, so I wouldn't say they make you feel wonderful..feeling wonderful would be no pain, lying in the sun with my husband next to me, that would feel wonderful. You don't need a pill to feel wonderful.

Because they are highly addictive and you need to take more and more to achieve that good feeling. With drawl from opiates is anything but wonderful. It is some of the worst pain you can endure. Your body basically revolts because it wants more of the opiates. No fun at all.
