Strabismus eye surgery? Ophthalmology. Help please.?

I'll be having this surgery soon. What i'm wondering is.....do they put you to sleep during surgery or are you wide awake, and is it painful?

Plus, ANY more information you know about the surgery would be much appreciated!

Thank you very much!

JM-
yes they will put you to sleep for the procedure. After you are sleep they will locate the muscles and move them or shorten them to straighten out your eyes.

There is very little pain after wards and you can do most of your normal activities. The specifics depend on the surgeon, but most will not let you swim for a week or so. Also most will have you use and eye drop for about a week.

The corners of your eyes will be red for a few weeks as you heal. Also the results of the surgery will be noticeable right away, but the final results will not be known for 2-3 months until you have completely healed.
