What made you want to be an oncology doctor? |
-for oncology doctors...or anyone who knows such a person and cares to speculate:) I've shadowed some oncologists and a lot of them got into it for the patients. They absolutely love cancer patients. There's something intrinsically different about them: zest for life, thankfullness, and optimism that make them very rewarding people to treat. However I know a surgical oncologist who doesn't go out much anymore because when he encounters former patients, just seeing him makes them cry/vomit. He's a really nice guy but I guess he conjures up a lot of bad memories. It is amazing the choices people make pursuing a medical degree.I don't why they make these choices, but thank God they do!I am in my 5th year of remission-I love my Oncologist! |
