Doctor career Oncology!?

I am REALLY interested in becoming an oncologist(the study, therapy, treatment and knowledge of cancer). I am willing when i complete school to do the 12 years of studies required. Anyone have any more info on the job, salary, requirements .. etc?..?

Its like any other specialty. You go to medical school and then specialize in Oncology. Medical or hematology. You should aim for a fellowship at Sloan Ketter, the mayo clinic, fred hutchinson or one of the other big academic centers. Like evrything else, the pay varies. An attending makes a OK salary while someone good in the private practice can make millions. Its lots of hard work. Many oncologists are also researchers and have PhD's as well. Oncology also is rough...many of your patients do not make it despite your best efforts.
