Radiology vs. Oncology? |
I know it sounds like a joke, but it's not. Radiology is a pretty broad field which can include things like MRI imaging (the "typical" brain scan), reading x-ray films for patients, reading CT scans, etc. There are other fields within radiology. Interventional radiology deals with radiation therapy, which can be used in the treatment of cancer. From what I know, radiologists are people who deal with kemotherapy and, well, radiation. Oncologists deal with cancer, how to remove it, how to treat it, how to recognize it, how to prevent it, etc. radiologist reads xrays and MRIs, while an Oncologist is a "cancer" dr. A radiologist is a doctor that specializes in X-ray, CT scan, and MRI. An oncologist is a doctor that specializes in cancer and diseases that are related to cancer. Oncologist is a dr who helps with the treatment of can figure out what kind of chemicals would work for the cancer. Also they help with a person finding counseling, prevention, diagnosis, etc. A radiologist takes and sometimes interprets xrays. An oncologist is a cancer specialist radiologist deals with radiography, xrays, radio-isotopes, other imaging technologies A Radiologist reads and interprets x-rays, cat scans, ultrasounds, MRI and performs procedures in X-ray An oncologist uses chemotherapy to fight cancer. another docter will use radiation treatments.I think that doctor may be a radiologist. |
