Radiology vs. Oncology?

I know it sounds like a joke, but it's not.

What's the difference between a radiologist and an oncologist?

Radiology is a pretty broad field which can include things like MRI imaging (the "typical" brain scan), reading x-ray films for patients, reading CT scans, etc. There are other fields within radiology. Interventional radiology deals with radiation therapy, which can be used in the treatment of cancer.

Oncologists deal specifically with cancer: diagnosis, treatments, management, etc. They might often work in conjuntion with a doc in interventional radiology to work out the best treatment plan for a given patient.

From what I know, radiologists are people who deal with kemotherapy and, well, radiation. Oncologists deal with cancer, how to remove it, how to treat it, how to recognize it, how to prevent it, etc.

radiologist reads xrays and MRIs, while an Oncologist is a "cancer" dr.

A radiologist is a doctor that specializes in X-ray, CT scan, and MRI. An oncologist is a doctor that specializes in cancer and diseases that are related to cancer.

Oncologist is a dr who helps with the treatment of can figure out what kind of chemicals would work for the cancer. Also they help with a person finding counseling, prevention, diagnosis, etc.

Radiologist is a dr that helps with the treatment of cancer in the form of the medical imaging of a disease. The use of radiation beams directly to the tumour or the area of the cancer.
