Any good oncology doctors reading this tonight? help me please?

My best friend was just diagnosed with cervixcal cancer.she has no health insurance"YET" but everyone is doing circles around her trying to get things lined up so they can decided the best course of action. My question is ,is there anyone in the Sacramento area,Ca.that knows a good Dr.that might work out of uc davis hospital area? A dr. that might specialize in Cervixal cancer. She is waiting right now for her results on her biopsy to know in which stage she is in. She is 45 years young and is full of life, and I love her with all my heart. I'm due in a few weeks to go on tv for the big spin, lottery tv show, all though I have 8 grand kids that need ,need, need ,If i need to, I will give every single penny to a doctor that I win, just to keep my best friend alive another 25-30 years. So please ,if your reading this right now, think hard about it .Anywhere around Sacramento area in Cailfornia. Maybe you over heard someone talking about a good Dr.She deserves the best of care... I promise.

Federal law requires ALL States in the medicaid program to also offer a program for women diagnosed with breast o cervical cancer. Since your friend is over 40, she might qualify just for the testing. The income limit for this program is twice the limit for regular medicaid. If it turns out your friend does have cancer (God forbid), then the program will pay for all of the treatments...actually she will get all of the medicaid benefits for 12 months (eye exams, Dr visits, etc...)

I assure you, the people she is seeing right now will refer to a good doctor. If there is a teaching hospital nearby or a Cancer research center, I'd suggest she go there-they are most likely to be on the cutting edge.

She needs to go to her local health department and apply for services. I just got dx in Arkansas with Breast Cancer, and I qualify. I've had over $10,000 of tests run in the last month to stage my cancer and I've only paid $50 and that was to Planned Parenthood so I could get the referral to get a mammogram.

In California the program is called the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP) and it began on January 1, 2002. Here's a link to the website for more information: http://www.dhs.ca.gov/mcs/mcpd/MEB/BCCTP...

Sorry to hear about your best friend. I'm not a doctor or even in Sacramento but I've done a little research for you and came up with a few links that might help you find a doctor in the area your looking for.

Link to UC Davis http://www.ucdmc.ucdavis.edu/welcome/

If you go to the link below and search for doctors that are in Sacramento CA, their specialty would be Gynecology Oncology and in keywords you type cervical cancer. This should bring up a list of doctors that may be of interest!

Im not sure if any of that will help you much but my best wishes go out to your friend!

Hello there, I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Looks like you have some great feedback so far, so I'll add a bit more info. Since she's now considered having a pre-existing condition it will be almost near impossible to get an insurance company to cover that. However, there are some options. I have a great healh benefits plan that has an amazing hospital advocacy program and a wonderful provider base that includes specialists, etc. You can research it here http://www.YouDeserveHealthCare.com This is something she can use very quickly as there is no waiting period, they absolutely accept all on-going health issues, plus they have a 100% 30-day money back guarantee. If she needs surgery, scans, etc. please help her look into this.

I hope all works out for her,
Cindy
