Well, as a medical professional, the way you are wording your question is sketchy, so I am assuming you may not be very in tune with the medical field. One can never really state the actual cost of a surgical procedure, because there are a lot of different factors involved such as: pre-op, anesthesia, medication, intra-op possibility of complications, radiation, seeds, post-op, post-surgical care, and do they have another kidney, or will they be on dialysis forever? Call the hospital where it is scheduled and check it out. You can also go on the national hospital association's webite and get links there. Be careful, because often times when a facility claims to be non-profit, they sometimes charge the most. And you want to go to a public owned hospital, not one that the surgeon has ownership in...sometime patients tend to stay longer in physican owned facilities...hhmmm...I wonder why that happen$?

Good luck, and investigate thouroughly. Don't forget to call your insurance company and ask them what they DON'T cover. Like certain meds used in the operating suite. And make sure that you or whoever has this procedure is the FIRST patient of the day in that particular room. Cases usually start at 0600-0900.. This is imperative for such a large and intensive procedure!! Don't let your guard down. You are in control of how your procedure will be conducted. And NO MEDICAL STUDENTS.
