Future Oncologist?

Recently, my best friend was diagnosed with liver cancer, and I'm slowly being convinced that oncology is a good career path for me. What are some good oncology schools if I want to pursue this career? Advice on getting into this field? What different things can I do with this job? What majors would help me in this field?

Any kind of answer is very much appreciated, Happy New Year!

First and foremost you have to go to medical school. In order to do that you need to get a bachelor's degree first and take certain prerequisite courses (math, chem, bio, physics ...). You must ace all of the science courses! Then you have to take the MCAT and do really well. Then apply to medical school. If you are accepted to med school it is 4 years of hard work. In the final year you apply for residency, this is when you pick a specialty. After residency you may need to do a fellowship for further specialization.
If you are really motivated then good luck! Speak to college counselors and they can help you and point you in the right direction.
Good luck to you and your friend!

To judge:
I am so so sorry to hear about your cancer. I am praying for you and I'm praying I will be able to help strong people like yourself become physically stronger someday. Stay hopeful.

I would go to the counselling department where you go to school and sit down and have a talk with them. they will steer you in the right direction because we need oncologists badly all over the world. you need the be really committed
