Question about WHITE COUNT.....I have been having a elavated white count for a while now.? |
The white white count is usually about 11,000 to 14,500 but it has been going on and off, but more so on for about 4 years or so now. I keep being told it is nothing, but then I finally went and saw a Hematology and oncology and he is pretty convince that it is nothing but is a very slight possibility it may be low grade lymphoma but usually he said you will see other things. I did tell him I have been tired allot and yea i am being treated for anxiety and depression also and I have ben having pain and discomfort in my hip.pelvic area and growin area. So i guess the Dr is going to do some special scan to look at the groin area and the bones and he plans on doing a bone marrow biopsy. I am nervous about the biopsy but also the results if it is a low grade lymphoma. I have read information that it is not cureable. So maybe what is the sense of going threw this all if it is uncureable. Looking for advice and input. What are other things that can raise my white count a low as it has been. Yes, I have lots of allergies and I do suffer from depression and anxiety also. My white count has not been that high and every Dr I talk to says it is nothing but then i went to see a specialist and he thinks nothing is going on but just to give me a piec of mind and he also said that there is some reason to do the bone marrow biopsy. What will that do for me, ouch and if it is not sureable, maybe i should not even bother going threw this. I did tell him that last year my Family Dr did blood work and my white count was normal about may of last year, it was 8.8. I am so confused i i should even going threw this. Arthritis can increase your WBC results. Any type of inflammation can do this. So can stress, a heart attack, pregnancy, thyroid problems, etc. Yes, it can be a symptom of cancer, rarely. I would hope your primary doc has already sent you to a rheumatologist to rule out something more simple such as arthritis in your hip. Do you have allergies? That can raise the count too. I had it as well was just my diet and I changed that and it went back to normal, doctors just doing his job and checking. Dont worry anything could happen until it does just enjoy yourself and live life or whats the point. even if its not curable your quality of life can be greatly improved. dont give up hope so quikly. it might be nothing but if it is uncurable then ther is still alot that can be done to make your life a better and it doesnt mean your dead. in the grand scheme of things we are all dying that shouldnt stop you from living you life Do you take any medications on a regular basis such as steroids or anti-seizure meds? Certain antibiotics can also increase WBC's as well as severe physical and/or emotional stress. Go and have the testing done your doctor suggested, he is looking to rule out bone marrow disease and leukemia. |
