Idiotpathic dvt's and i had a placement of ivc filter im only 22 plz help?

am 22 and ive had a dvt in my right brachial for a year now and ive been on coumadin and lovanox i just had left knee surgery and had major pain we found another dvt in my left calf. They placed an inferior vena cava filter everything ive heard about them is awful not sure if i want to keep it or not. My entire coag workup is negative all they can tell me is it's idiopathic and i may never know the reason i clot but will have to do the blood thinners for life well i just got a new clot even on the blood thinners. I live in albany ny i see a doctor at ny oncology and hematology a pretty reputable practice and i have gotten a second opinion and he says the same thing i may never know why. I am getting very frustrated i want to know why i am clotting its scary to still clot while on the blood thinners and if anyone has any ideas of where to start or just general info on the topic plz help also if you know anything about the ivc filters good or bad i would like to know thanx :)

I, too, have had a few dvt's... though they have broken up in my leg(s). If I were you, I would keep the filter inthere.. having one in your lung and close to your heart and other vital organs is serious! Obviously, this is why your docs decided this was the best way to go. Go to google and type in "dvt brachial ivc filter". You'll find a LOT of medical pages about the "why's".. but, as your docs have said, sometimes they don't have an answer to this. The best thing I had a doc tell me about something being idiopathic as that the docs can't figure it out 'cause they're idiots..; hence, idiopathic... It sounds like you've got some good docs and a 2nd opinion to prove it. Sometimes, bad things happen to good people!
