Is there a certain amount of omega 3 fatty acids you need in a day?


I follow the right diet using the pyramid as well as advice from a personal trainer, I also take flax sprouts for omega 3 fatty acids. Am i covered?

depending on bodyweight 1-3 grams of n-3 fatty acids is good. you also want to keep the ratio of n-3 to n-6 fatty acids around 1:4-1:5

What you are doing sounds fine. The amount of Omega 3 that you "need" is tiny, but the amount you're body can use is a different story.

If you are still worried, make sure to add ocean salmon to your diet, they have a lot of quality Omega 3. Fresh water salmon aren't as good and often have a lot of toxins in them.
