Is it True That Omega 3 Fatty Acids Are Being Used Successfully For The Treatment Of Bi-Polar Disorder? |
I have bi-polar disorder and have been taking Lamotrigene for almost a year. It has helped me with depression, but my doctor is taking me off of it because I am afraid of the side effects (someone in my town got Steven Johnson's Symdrome). I am cautious about taking meds. Four people in my family are being treated for bi-polar and we are all on different medications. I am afraid to take meds, but I am more afraid of not taking them. While reading about bi-polar, I read some articles about the Omega 3 positive responses. True it IS, so far... The Trials are still preliminary & underway, so it may BE awhile before new Meds are available for Drs. to prescribe to people like yourself... In the MEANTIME, hang in there- & stick with whatever your Doctor suggests... Better days may be coming... :) Though is not indicated; can't hurt to try. Omega 3 is a miracle! Take the supplements and eat lots of salmon...your mind and your skin will thank you! Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) are helpful in depression. They are needed for normal development and functioning of the brain. Every living being and cell in the body needs EFAs. However, your nutritional and supplement regime requires more than just EFAs. my bf takes omega 3s every now and than and they work good It is true. |
