Which foods contain omega 6 and omega 3 fatty acids?

and also what is their benefits to the body?

omega-6 is found in plants generally especially oils. In a western diet you'll get rather a lotof it.

Omega-3 is found in walnuts and (especially) oily fish. There are reports that the amount of omega-3 in the western diet is far too low.

Adults require a specific omega-3 called EPA to help the brain function - too much omega-6 affects the brain. Pregnant women need another omega-3 called DHA - to help development of the brain of the foetus. (up to 4 weeks after birth at least). The demand for DHA by the foetus is so great that the mother 'sacrfices' the DHA in the brain - one cause of PND.

Omega-6 is regarded as an inflammatory and there are links to asthma and eczema caused by too-much omega-6 in the diet. Omega-3 is anti-inflammatory. Try and avoid oils such as sunflower, corn and safflower which have high levels of omega-6.

Omega 3 has been shown to reduce hyperactivty symptomatology in children and be good for the heart.

most fish, vegetarian-fed hen eggs (Egglands Best), walnuts, flaxseed. I find supplements the easiest (fish oil tablets).
