Occupational therapy?

anyone who is an occupational therapist or those who know what that is, can i get info based on what the job is like? and the demand for it? will it be better if an occupational therapist worked in a hospital or drive to people's homes? etc...
please?

I love being an occupational therapist. The demand is high no matter where you live and the pay is good, even without any experience. As an OT you work with people to help them be more independent after an illness or injury. Every day is different because you are working with people. You could be working on helping someone get stronger with their arms or hands, teaching someone how to get dressed one handed after a stroke, teaching safety and pacing techniques to someone who has pulmonary or cardiac diseases, etc. The settings can also greatly vary. You can work with any ages from pediatrics to geriatrics in a hospital, outpatient clinic, sub-acute rehab, nursing home, or home care. I personally enjoy home care but many people I talk to prefer the consistency of working at an in-patient facility.
I would recommend volunteering at a hospital or nursing home in the rehab department for at least a day to talk to the therapists and see a little bit of what they do. You may also be interested in Physical Therapy.
Hope that this was helpful to you!

occupational therapist is one of the top ten jobs in the world right now based on demand, job safety, and making more than fifty thousand a year. OT works on the patients ability to return home independently. Meaning able to dress, walk, bath, cook etc. These are also referred to as ADLs or activities of daily living. As far as setting, that is dependent on the person. Some people prefer to work in an outpatient setting, inpatient rehab hospital, schools, home health, acute care hospitals, etc.
I have a masters in occupational therapy, bachelors in exercise physiology, certified American College of Sports Medicine Health and Fitness Instructor.
Hope the info is beneficial to you.
The field will astronomically grow in the next ten years as a direct result of the aging baby boomer generation.
