Does the combination of acupuncture and occupational therapy help relieve damaged nerves in an arm?

My mom was in a car accident and got damaged nerves in her left arm. She cannot lift the arm up at all. Right now she is getting treatment, which is acupuncture and occupational therapy. I want to know if it is good to have these treatments done. I also compared her two arms to see if the humor bone in her left arm has been dislocated. To me it felt like there was a difference. If anyone has went through the same situation please tell some helpul hints on how to cure this problem.

ive worked in physical rehab as a nurse and i also have had accupuncture. i hope your mom gets back sensations and functions. nerves do regrow, slowly so she should be patient. i had numb hands and i was able to feel what i described was water traveling under my skin. i asked, and found out they opened the "water channel" i did not know this prior, but i did go in with an open mind. ive also used accupunture for a neck injury-whiplash and it helped so that i didnt have to take pain meds. occupational therapy is great also, use it or loose it i say. your mom is lucky to have u and be in a program where she is getting these treatments. goodluck ;)michele

Acupuncture can't treat mechanical dammage.
But it is wise to observe the change and take decision. Many times there is simple blockage which gets removed and normalises.
I suggest massage + acupuncture.
