Behavioral problems with my 6 yr. old son. Any Dr.s around? |
My son drums quite a bit (and he's very good) on his lap, chest, and it is often accompanied by a humming sound. He also grimmaces and clenches his fists when he gets excited. He's had play therapy and occupational therapy, and those seem to be coming along fine. He makes strange noises, as well, and will not or cannot stop when I ask him to. It affects his friendships. He has recently been kicked out of the daycare he went to because when I am not around, he runs rampant. He hits teachers, locks himself in cabinets, etc. I am so afraid for him and his future if I cannot get him under control! I'm in the process of getting him evaluated, but it will take quite some time. Does anyone know what this could be? He talked at the appropriate time, and he had the play therapy for the anger issues he has, which is why he was hitting his teachers. I would suspect Aspergers (given both that his social skills are impaired and that his verbal development is on track) and/or Tourette's. he might have autisim or a very mild case of it sounds like he may be abit autistic......autistic children can be very smart, but just have behavioral problems or learning difficultys. sounds like autism. I have worked with a lot of children with autism. Is he sensitive to lights and schedules?? Definatley look up autism and the symptoms the earlier you catch it the better because you really need to work on this. There are also so many conditions listed that when it comes to the symptons you gave there are probably hundreds of diagnosis that could be given. Show him appropriate behavior and get him on a constant schedule. Does he talk? What did he have therapy for? There really isn't enough info. Some parents use the Indian papoose therapy raising a child. When very young the baby is facing the parent and get used to the face of the parent. |
