My daughter dignosed as Borderline personality disorder can any one tells me how to overcome and best treatmen

she is 22 she was given 45 mg Mertazapine and 75 mg Qatapine by a consulant psychatrists here in UK but she was not getting better here .so we gone to S.India where she was dignosed BPD whre as here in Uk she was dignosed Depression. In India they took off all medication and they are treating her with CBT(counselling) only. She is getting better with CBT and Occupational therapy but its very slow.

My daughter is 24, and was diagnosed with BPD when she was 17. She has been on Mertazapine, Depecote, and now Zoloft, because the other medications weren't helping.
We have had her in therapy since then, currently she is being treated with CBT, and sometime she does better than others. When she is doing good everything is right in her world and we are "good" , but when she goes into her "splitting" phases we all become completely bad.
Everything that I have learned through this experience is that they'll probably need therapy for a prolonged period of time, and that usually (especially in females) the symptoms start to subside in their forties. It can be a very frustrating at times, I would recommend that you find a support group of families who have a child or loved one with BPD in your area, and if there are none then go on-line and look up support groups, it is a tremendous help.

It is the best one I have found that keeps you up to date on all of the current BPD news. I wish you the best.

I'm not certain if someone can overcome it. It may be genetics. Medication is probably the best.

Borderline personality disorder is one of the more serious personality disorders and often requires long term counseling. The counseling does not always have to be continuous. As your daughter grows and works through her problems, she may reach times where she is quite level and functions ok for a while until she reaches another layer of problems she will need to work through. Treatment for BPD can be almost compared to treatment for addictions as a life long committment to growth and learning. Hope this helped.
