Does anyone have a baby with a seizure disorder? |
My 16 month old have been hospitalized 6 times. The first being in April, and the last this month (Oct). All of her visits were from seizures. To start with the doctors were calling them febrile sz. Now some doctors are calling it epilepsy. We have followed up with genetics and pediatric neurology. My daughter's sz used to last over 30 mins. having to be stopped with ativan and twice she had to be intubated. After her 3rd and very scary sz, the neurologist started her on Trileptal. She is now on Keppra and Trileptal. She is still having sz's but they are a lot shorter. One doctor says that because she had so many febrile sz, she developed epilepsy. She also suffers from developmental delay. At 16 months old, she is neither crawling or trying to talk. She does physical, speech, and occupational therapy weekly. I am also working on getting her a 2nd opinion with a different neurologyst. I really wish there was someone I could talk to who has experienced something similar HI Brooke most kids are given Phenobarb for seizures. I had a neighbor whose child had similar symptoms; He had been to many doctors, but no cure was found. |
