Really? I've had an eating disorder, too. An occupational health interview is when they ask about your eating habits and your thought patterns about yourself, your behaviour, and your diet. Don't lie. It will probably get you nowhere. I tried denying it for ages and I still ended up getting treated. Believe me, my life was saved. They might diagnose you when you're there, but they just want to help you get better. At first, you wont' want to get better. You may be angry, upset, and out of control, but believe this from a victim of anorexia, IT'S ALL FOR THE GREATER GOOD. You will eventually feel better.

do u think u have an eating disorder?. have not experienced one but guess it will be a chat to establish your eating patterns, feelings about food in a bid to work out whether u do have a problem and how it can be sorted out. good luck.

1-they will ask u do u think ur fat
2-what do u eat weird stuff like that

They do an evaluation or inventory that provides a score to pass on to a therapist if you choose to go to one.

Just answer the questions honestly. After all, they are concerned about you.

Hi

I'd be interested to know who the 'they' are that referred you and is this Occupational Therapy at the place you work, or is it to see an Occupational Therapist who works in the community and your GP has done the referral?

If it relates to work, then what usually happens is that they will request some information from your GP, but they cannot do that unless you give them permission. You would have to sign a form to give your consent - and you can read what he says, before it is sent to work.

If however your GP has referred you for the appointment he will already have given details of why he thinks an OT could help you.

As someone before has already said, all that will happen is that you will be asked some questions regarding your health and probably body size and how you feel about it.

Try your best to be as honest as you can be, if you don't tell them all the information it will make it harder for them to know how to treat you in the most appropriate way.

Would it be possible to get someone you trust to go with you to the appointment, if you wanted them to, they should be able to sit in with you as well. Or if not they can offer support on the way there and back. It's something to consider to make it a less anxious time for you.

The link below will take you to the Mind website, which is a great sorce of information on all matters relating to mental health issuse:

Understanding Eating Distress:
http://www.mind.org.uk/Information/Bookl...

Please have a good look around the rest of the site, as there well be much more information that would be useful to you.

I'm sure you will be fine and hopefully they will be able to help you if you do in fact have an eating disorder.

Good luck.
