I hurt my back at work, what do I have to do to get the ball rolling with workmans comp? |
I do not as of yet know the extent of my injury, but have missed 4 days of work so far. I will find out more about my injury tomorrow when I follow up with occupational health. First off, you need to research the laws for your state. That really makes a difference since the laws in every state vary. Some states have a 3 day waiting period, while others have a 7 day waiting period (the waiting period is the time before the work comp company starts paying you benefits). After you research your state's laws, I would contact the adjuster assigned to your claim. Ask them what's going on with you claim and make sure they know how to contact you if they need anything. Make sure to keep your employer and adjuster updated with your medical treatment, that's very important. Ask your doctor if you can return to work, if he gives you restrictions, make sure to contact your employer to see if they can accomodate the restrictions. Good luck and I hope you heal quickly! You need to call your mangager or HR rep. call workforce they have the numbers i also hurt my back nursing home i work for has privet insurance they are not helping me Well most workplaces have a requirement that you file your injury complaint with them within 24-48 hours. Your supervisor can help you do this. They will ask you if you want to seek, or already have sought, treatment. If you say yes they will hook you up with the insurance company. get a lawer no joke most have free consult if your hurt bad dont take any chances or you'll get screwed |
