Obsessive compulsive disorder???

What kind of testing to they do to be able to diagnose you with this disorder? What type of doctor should I see?

you should talk to your regular physician, so that they know what is going on as well; they can (if you sign release forms) provide information to your therapist that can help in diagnosis and treatment. You can go to either a psychiatrist or psychologist (if you need to see someone else for diagnosis, treatment, etc. they will refer you).
as for testing, there are many tests that are used to determine whether or not you have OCD, and to what extent you have it. behavioral inventories are done, there are several versions of this, in which you simply answer questions such as "Do you find yourself checking things, such as door locks, frequently?" and "Have you ever thought about harming others?" (these tests are used to diagnose many disorders, such as depression and ADD, so some questions may not apply to you, but will be helpful for your therapist to know). an initial diagnosis can be made without these tests, especially if it is very obvious that you have OCD, but further testing is helpful to give a more complete diagnosis. be sure to be truthful in all your answers, and ask questions about what the questions on the tests mean if you're not sure, as this is important in scoring them.
Good luck on receiving help.

I think it's either a psychologist or psychiatrist.....

u need to see both types of doctors the guy above me said

See a psychiatrist who specializes in OCD. A psychiatrist can prescribe drugs, if necessary, to control OCD -- a psychologist can't prescribe medication because they are not MDs.

im not exactly sure how they test you, but my aunt has OCD and she went to a therapist and was diagnosed, and she goes to her therapist like twice a month to have a session, in which i assume they talk.

There isn't a specific test to determine if you have OCD. A licenses psychiatrist will ask you questions to determine if you have it. Be honest in your answers so you get the best treatment, if needed.

a psychologist can simply find out if u have an ocd by just questioning u, but specific questions...

I have OCD, and I had to see a cognitive-behavioral therapist. They help big time!!

Most people have OCD to a certain extent. I don't believe they have any testing, but judge by how much it effects the quality of your day to day life. A Phychiatrist will be able to diagnose. Best of luck.

If you are a level 4 or higher on Yahoo answers, you might be a candidate.
