Possible Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

Since I have been in my first relationship I am obsessed with the idea that my girlfriend will cheat on me. The thought constantly plagues my mind, although she has done her best to calm my fears. She has never cheated on me and she has stopped her friendships with people she has been with in the past. I have never caught her in a lie and she is willing to do anything to make me feel better, although my obsession puts a strain on our relationship. I have been diagnosed with having an anxiety disorder, but I was wondering if this could be OCD. If I visit her house I am constantly looking for signs to reveal she has cheated or lied. I have taken her phone and went through it many times without her knowledge but find nothing. I call her phone repeatedly if she does not answer. If she is out with her friends I cannot go to sleep until she calls. My mind is constantly plagued with images and thoughts of her cheating and lying. Please help...

Sounds like time to seek counseling so that you can get on with enjoying the relationship. Your obsessive interest in the subject will only help to destroy something that there is likely nothing wrong with. Help is available.

No, OCD is different. Anxiety is just being really stressed out. What you need is counseling for your thoughts about her cheating on you and get your doctor to prescribe anxiety medicine.

In all seriousness, you sound just like my wife.
I think you should seek counselling. I also believe you should try really hard to stop doubting her. Sooner or later, she will tire of it, so seek help before the event.

Doesn't sound like OCD at all. No offense to you personally, but I wish people would stop assuming that any problem they think about constantly is OCD.

Absolutely not.

you're paranoid. which is a trait of most anxiety disorders. but to be that concerned that someone you have no reason to believe would deceive you is going to hurt you is a sign of depression.

..i'm gonna 'read' between the lines.. and say you ARE o-c-d... i bet you obsess about your thoughts, !! ..and that you are compulsive about checking out what ever you insecuritys come up with.. !!

Assumeing that is correct, eventualy, your behaviors will kill any reciprocations from whom ever you focus your attentions on... regardless who they are..!!

NO ONE thinks that sort of attention is 'healthy'.. it scares the sh1t outta them. How would YOU like some weard freeky unpredictable A55HOLE prying into your PERSONAL life?

Ainxiety or not,.. OCD or not, .. YOU have some problems, and SHE aint it!!
Socially, and curlturally and intimately your insecuritys arent recent issues for you ether!!...

you've been struggeling with things for a long time.

Anxiety attacks are symptoms.. so are obsessive thoughts.. so is compulsive behaviors..

These folks here all have a simmular theam... "get some counseling.".. and it's excelent advise.

YOUR problem is... YOU.
NOT her.

I know this is blunt and almost rude... but.. you know, and i know, that any thing less is gonna roll off your back like rain off a duck.

get over your self!!..

and see what the dam problem ammounts too,.. while you'r still aware that something is NOT working..!!
