I think i may have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

I think I am because EVERYTIME I turn my computer, I have to make sure it is off for about 3 times. I just always have to check until I finally convince myself that it is off. Another thing I tend to do is check if I have my homework from school in my bookbag. I have to constantly run through my mind the homework I have. I don't count up to a certain number so I'm really no sure. I am also the type of person who sees something (like a didease/ disorder) on T.V, and I suddenly think I have that problem but I don't. I'm really not sure about OCD though. Please help me. How can I know for sure?

ask your doctor

It sounds to me like u r stressed your mind can do weird things when u r stressed. I think u will be fine

Why don't you find a psychiatrists and tell him/her your symptoms. Many symptoms that look like another disorder are really just symptoms of depression. Before your appointment write down all things you THINK are abnormal so you can be accurate.

You're okay, this situations sound pretty normal to me. For now at least.

OCD is defined by having intrusive unwanted thoughts (such as thinking how you are going to kill someone you love and would never kill). You have these unwanted thoughts over and over again and in order to control the thoughts, you would engage in repetitive behaviors or thinking such as washing hands, checking if things are turned off , etc. If you are just doing a lot of checking on things without the intrusive thoughts, you may have other forms of anxiety though. You really need to talk with a professional who will ask you lots of questions to get the correct diagnosis. This can't be done here.
You haven't mentioned your age; If in high school or lower, go see your counselor or tell your parents you were advised to see a psychologist or psychiatrist. If in college, check with your local community mental health services.
All the best.

You sound like you have some mild OCD going on. You don't have to have the number counting symptom to have OCD, there can be a bunch of different ways that OCD surfaces.

My partner has some OCD behaviors, as do both of her sons. She describes the feeling she gets as "unsettled." As in, if a sticker on a box isn't lined up exactly right, she feels unsettled until she pulls off the sticker and aligns it correctly. It takes her forever to get to bed at night, because the bedclothes, the pillow, her pajamas, etc., all have to be just exactly *right* or else she feels anxious. What you are describing sounds similar to her descriptions.

You can only really know for sure by talking to your doctor and/or psychiatrist. There are medications you can take to help ease the anxiety that the OCD brings.

The counting thing and the checking thing is definitely mild OCD. And the TV thing could make you a hypochondriac. Just try to unstress yourself and catch yourself everytime you do something like that. If your symptoms get worse.. like you're obsessed with being neat or have to do rituals or thoughts (like something will happen if you don't check the computer 3 times) accompany your actions, see a psychologist and/or psychiatrist to receive behavioral therapy.

Maybe you have obssesive compulsive compulsive traits but not a disorder.

You just sound a bit overwhelmed and maybe alot going on....stress does that...you don't need to see a doctor for stress...there is nothing "wrong" with making sure the computer is off more than once...your not hurting anyone or yourself for that matter.
Alot of people freak out at all the diseases they see on tv etc....don't worry about it :) just give yourself a day off now and then...relax....
IF you go to a doctor they will probably just put you on pills...so I don't recommend that. Your fine really :)
