Obsessive compulsive disorder symptoms - ANY ADVICE?

Lately, I feel not that happy. I contemplate about my life, my future, people in my life.....I try to control everything....am cleaning a lot ...everything has to be perfect....I read about OCD....discovered that I have many of those symptomes....I don't want to seek the help of a counsler or so....What can I do?

My life is very busy....I'm about to finish my 2nd bachelors degree....have a job already after it ....work two jobs right now....but I feel sad anyway.....

most people with OCD have it EXTREMELY bad. in my phych class my teacher said that you either have it or you don't. and these people with it are FREAKS. for example, if they take a shower or something, they clean the floor because they think someone after them is going to slip on a wet floor. Then 5 minutes later they're like omg i didn't wipe it well enough and do it again. then 5 minutes later.... and on and on. They also are late like an hour for work because they kept going back to their house to make sure the door was lockedm which it was every single time. and they are known (but some don't) to wash their hands hundreds of times a day because they keep thinking it's not clean enough or they touched the sink which made it dirty again.
I think you are going through an "existential crisis". I went through one a couple months ago. You should read up on it online. I found some helpful hints online about how to calm yourself down and bring yourself back to reality.
I think that your behavior that you say mimics OCD is just because you feel maybe out of control of the things in your life.
You should sit down and figure out what makes you not at-ease with your future. Maybe make some life plans and figure out what you want to do. Take some action, instead of cleaning all the time. Do some internships at jobs you are interested in, take some college classes. Once you are doing things and making progress in your life you may not feel as hopeless or out of control.
Hope I helped! Good luck!

You should talk to a friend who knows you better and will know the right thing to do for you.

It may be OCD or not, you have to get diagnosed, and it may take some time. Why don't you want to go to a therapist?

Go to a good doctor first and find out what meds are available. Then go to a good Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I didn't know they existed and she helped me a lot. She just does meds, knows all about all of them. More than the doctors. I have been told this by doctors. Good luck. Get some help. There are many people like you. No shame in talking about it with a therapist or doctor.

OCD is treatable and usually comes after stressors.
Your reasoning for not seeking counsellor help could deprive you of the best help you would get.
I personally felt vary reserved about seeking help.
I personally had helped others through many difficult times but failed to do so when it came upon me.
After much delay I went to them and found that it was immensely helpful. Ofcourse, all counsellors are not efficient or capable. So you have to find the right one.

Overall, OCD can be debilitating on many levels. It appears that your problem came upon some stressor, also depression. Depression is just anger that has turned inwards. So going to conunsellor and finding healthy mental health would do great wonders.

If you truely suffer from OCD following is the therapy:
1. Psychodynamic psychotherapy
2. SSRI drugs
3. Anxiolytics

good luck

I can understand you not wanting to see a counselor and such but really that would be the best thing you can do and they will help you so much. go on take the step get the help its well worth it I promise.

Everyone has the symptoms to some degree or another. You probably need more important work or busy-ness to do. Can you volunteer somewhere or get another job. Just keep diverting yourself from anything you see as perfectionist traits that are a bit too much. Nobody can control everything and no one is completely happy. In our grandparents times, no one asked ' Are you happy?' They just did their work. If you truly do not like where you are in your life, go back to school and choose something that will fulfill you. Be in the Peace Corps or something.Youll be fine

How is your diet? Many times diet affects the way you feel. I am into a lot of natural healing things that are helping people change their lives. Physical, mental, spiritual. Contact me if you want to hear more.

I had ocd, n what helped is just not doing it... its hard but u can do it, honestly, just dont do it... after awhile u realise that nothing will happen. i still have some symptoms of ocd, but i dont check things 50 times n my symptoms are decreased to a point where it doesnt effect my life... actually i only think about it maybe once every few months... and that was from being very obsessed about my ocd symptoms. the best advice anyone can give u is to just NOT do those things... if u cant (which if u try ur hardest, wont happen) then u need meds like zoloft... n u need to see a doctor. the only way ocd can continue is if u give it power n give in to those thoughts. good luck n i hope u get better.
