Obesity?????? |
Why are parents to blame for their children being obese and having eating problems? parents ultimately set the course for the childs eating habits. They teach the child good or bad habits based on how they live and the foods they choose. A kid has very little choice when it comes to the meals that are made within the home and habits form early. As we all know...old habits die hard. If a parent sees no need to integrate healthy foods and good choices into the childs diet, the kid has little chance to overcome the obesity obstacle. i have never heard of that. Parents should teach kids good eating habits from the onset. Children learn most of their habits from their family, mostly from the examples, habits, and teaching of their parents. If a person's child is obese, chances are they let them sit around too much and eat too much and/or too often. Either that, or they said to eat less and exercise then sat around and munched, and their kids picked up the same habits. Genetics do play a part as well as race, culture and circumstance, but all of those can be overcome through good habits. i guess its because there parents feed their kids (breakfast, lunch, dinner), they buy stuff food for their kids, and give money to them to buy food. because most of the time the parents are the ones who give them the food but its hard!!! Im just a fat kid and I take responsibility for the fact that im fat, I force my parents to eat fattening foods. If they dont I tie them up and whip them till they eat it, its the kids fault just remember that ok? Because parents control the menu! They purchase and prepare the foods and run to the fast food shop. well im not parents myself but parents are the ones that feed there kids most nights and if your gettting fast food more then once a week or making grandmas fried chicken for your kid you in a way are the blame for your child being obese. If they have an eating problem you should know how much they should be eating or see a doctor if you dont Of course, there is a genetic/metabolic factor to the obesity problem but what parents feed their children is very important. If you feed your children fast food, sugary drinks, and drench everything in butter, they will retain these bad eating habits and become obese. If children grow up exercising and eating moderate amounts of food, including vegetables, most children will be at a healthy weight. because parants buy the food and they are the ones that introduce foods to them from the beginning. If all parents fed their toddlers nutritionally balabced meals from the stat than the kids would have a taste forthe healthy foods. Thats why some kids like salad and others dont. just my opinion Um because parents are the ones doing the grocery shopping... Its not all the parents but they do have an input on the child's life. For example, if the parent gave the child junk food at a young age, the child will learn that fatty foods are "OK". But if the child grows up on heath foods and exercise, they will be less prone to childhood obesity. the image the mother/father creates what the kid naturally thinks is what he/she is okay to look like, b/c some one that they r close to looks like that. but if the parent talks about losing weight and is constantly on alert for too many calories, then the child may get the impression that she should act or eat that way (ahem, anorexia, bullemia??) Well, let me speak for myself. I ate quite healthy as a kid. I grew up on a diet that was rich in meats and vegetables. The vegetables were grown in our yard. Mom canned and we had a good supply of fruit and vegetables all year. We were not allowed to gorge on anything and we had servings that reflected that. When we went trick or treating, we had to give our treat bags to mom who would divy up the candy in small portions to be eaten throughout the day. We ate ice cream only on Sundays. There was control and concern with health and my sisters and I were skinny. They feed them too much. Or at least teach hem to eat healty food. But if born obese they need to exercise. because the parents are the one who's paying the food they buy not the kid. who is going to store? who have the money to pay for the food? in the parents buy a junk food for their kid soda, soda, soda, doh! Because children learn their eating habits from their parents. The type of food a child eats, the quantity, when they eat --- are determined by the parents. It is not usually children who go to the grocery store and do the shopping, nor do they cook the food and serve it at home. Therefore, the food habits of parents greatly influence their children's eating habits. Also, the way you think about food can be influenced by your parents --- did your parents give you treats as a reward? Did you have to finish all the food on your plate? Does the parent purchase a supply of chips, popcorn and soda that children have ready access to? All of these things affect how children regulate their own eating. Also, now that fast food is so cheap and easy, many working parents find it easier just to take their kids out for fast food. However, fast food has many more calories per serving than more regular food - fast food also is served in larger portions than are needed for optimal health. All of these things contribute to obesity in our society. Children don't get fat on their own. They are the ones that put the food on the table. They put it in the pantry and in the fridge. They probably do not do enough to discourage junk food eating. there are parents who do not watch what their children are eating. they should take responsibility for the food that their kids are consuming. |
