Obesity? what is it?

what it Obesity? .. in own words please!

haha lool im nt obese! im doing this project for school about it :DD lool

Obesity is based on your body fat percentage. Unfortunately, it is usually calculated off of your BMI. For a woman Obese is when she is over 30 BMI. Here is a helpful little chart

Underweight - Below 18.5
Normal -------- 18.5-24.9
Overweight --- 25-29.9
Obese---------- 30 and above

This is also a link to a website for the CDC. You can calculate your Body mass Index or BMI for either an adult or a child.

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/

The reason I say unfortunately is, because this doesn't work well for athletic people or people who carry a lot of muscle tone. You could have very low body fat and be in great shape, but your BMI could be over 30! Your best bet is really a body scan. You can even get a body composition scale from Tanita that shows you what your actual makeup is. It will give you your weight, but it lets you monitor lean muscle mass as well as fat and water in your body. That way you know exactly what is happening when you step on the scale each day!!

I hope that helped! :o)

It's another word for someone who is over weight.

it means you are overweight

your really really fat!

It means that you are so severely overweight that your size begins to compromise your health.

obesity is when you have to much fat on your body. There is a range for your height and age and if you are over that you are obese, If you are way over that you are morbidly obese which means that you are so fat it can kill you.

A person can be over weight and then they can be severely over weight which is called obese.....obesity.

obseity is being way over the weight that you should be at for your height and weight

It was a health problem of having too much weight which used to be widespread but it no longer exists. It was cured in 2007 by the ninja warrior diet. See 4th heading on site below.

Some one who in societies eyes doesn't have a "perfect body" Even if you weigh 140 you are considered obese.

Overweight and obesity are defined as abnormal or excessive fat accumulation that may impair health.

Body mass index (BMI) is a simple index of weight-for-height that is commonly used in classifying overweight and obesity in adult populations and individuals. It is defined as the weight in kilograms divided by the square of the height in meters (kg/m2).

BMI provides the most useful population-level measure of overweight and obesity as it is the same for both sexes and for all ages of adults. However, it should be considered as a rough guide because it may not correspond to the same degree of fatness in different individuals.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines "overweight" as a BMI equal to or more than 25, and "obesity" as a BMI equal to or more than 30. These cut-off points provide a benchmark for individual assessment, but there is evidence that risk of chronic disease in populations increases progressively from a BMI of 21.

it means being overweight or weighing more than what your supposed to

extremely over weight
