Can obesity be caused by a virus?

I watched a documentary a couple of months back about the possibility of a virus causing obesity. What do you think?

There are lots of theories, the last I heard was a genetic problem, there may be merit in some of the ideas but the reality is lack of activity and incorrect diet are the key causes for obesity and only hard work and proper diet will fix it.

Anythings possible these days!

I just blame my parents! LOL :-)

My data says eating too much and not exercising enough is the key to obesity.

i don't think so- virus? that's just another excuse fat people give so they can justify being fat...

people, the answer is simple:
get outside and get healthy- EXERCISE.... is it really that hard!?

and stop eating all of that fatty, processed, fast food

actually, obesity can even caused by depression alone..so logically, there is no root cause fr obesity other than the most possible cause is if you have a defect in your biological system in body where something is wrong and it is not processing the right nutriens which can cause body to bloat up.
so, if u r obese, only one thing to keep in mind..another 3 yrs of working out in the gym and holding tite to eating habits. the higher ur metabolism rate, the faster food gets digested, lesser fat accumulation, and u get dehydrated fast so drink lotsa water. all this can be achieved by frequent visits to the gym consistently for the next few years..good luck ;)

no not a virus or a spider bite lmao (dr phil episode) its a mental/emotional condition. "I'm depressed because i'm fat and I eat because I'm depressed" its like a snake eating its own tail lol

yes, I've also heard that but....
obesity can be due to many causes....viruses..genetics.psychologica... ..etc.etc..but....the mechanism of all types is the same....you get hungry more..you eat more... you don't burn as much...and you get fat...that's it.

NO .

Dear writer,

Obesity is caused from family genetics or a gland that is not working right, witch in most case's both can be fixed if treated right way by a family Doctor.
Obesity in a few cases can be found in many united state citizens That over eat and don't know when to stop, unfortunately that would be called a eating disorder, which also can be treated by a Doctor if seen right away. (eating disorders can be life threatening if left untreated)
