Is obesity really a big problem?

In the world. In America. In the UK. In children. In adults.
Can people explain their answers and can anyone give me statistics based on obesity in the world as well, please.
What is the reason for it?
What proof is there of it (apart from just seeing people on the street)?
Thanks so much for all your answers.

The obesity problem is a BIG problem (no pun intended). NOt only in adults but also in children of all ages. I want to become a pediatrician so that I can help save the next generations of children from obesity. The reason for current obesity is that people are eating more of the wrong foods and watchng tv, going online, or playing videogames all day rather than exercising. Most families' family time consists of watching tv, if every family in America replaced that with a family walk i am positive that the country's obesity rate would drop significantly. Or even if parents took their kids to the park every day to play and playesd with their kids.

That was a cool answer Report It

in america, yes; the rest of the world, no.

because america has much more fats, sugars, salts, and grease than other countries

mcdonalds.

Statistics in america:
Six out of every 10 Americans are overweight; nearly one in three is obese. Since 1991, U.S. obesity rates in adults have risen 60 plus percent.

This growth involves both genders, all age groups, all classes, and all income and education levels. In the last decade, the percentage of obese children has doubled to almost 27 percent--and overweight teenagers have an 80 percent chance of becoming overweight adults. The food industry now spends $15 billion a year to form brand loyalty in children. If childhood obesity continues to rise, research suggests that this school-age generation may be the first in U.S. history with a shorter life expectancy than its parents.

Reason: Everyone wants pleasurable, quick, cheap food. And it is available. Healthy food is harder to find (but can be found) People sit more and exercise less.
Basically we live in a lazy society. Just check most of the posts on Yahoo " trying to lose weight Fast..."

Ofcourse in USA / UK it seems common, reason Junk food and Mc donalds, KFc, etc

yes. i used to live in the usa. trust me

Yes, because of food.
