Is obesity a cause of insomnia?

i've read that it is thought that insomnia is a contributing factor in the cause of obesity, but does it also work the other way round? I've recently lost a fair amount of weight and have noticed that I am now sleeping like a normal person rather than just an hour or two a night if I'm lucky.

Yes, by causing sleep apnea, joint pain, and general discomfort from carrying and shifting the weight.
Congrats on your loss!

I'm a big one and I sleep a lot =but am on powerful meds too=so could be them

yes it is and a cause of sleep apnoea

NO certainly not!!

Nope, I am chunky (not obese) and I sleep well thank you.....

Congratulations on your weight loss. Obesity can cause many illnesses and one for some is sleep apnia where people stop breathing in their sleep many do not know they have it just wake up and dont know why.
You are sleeping better for a number of reasons, one the weight loss, two you are more likey to be more active now so when you go to bed you sleep properly as you are tired and three you are healthier for loosing the weight.
Some people are like you and some are not I am over weight and on a diet but have always slept well and needed my full eight hours lol
