Dog Scenario?

I am writing a paper and need some help.

The scenario is a dog just got hit by a car. We need to insert an endotracheal tube, intravenous catheter. The dog has two fractured ribs and a pneumothorax. We perform a thoracocentesis and insert a chest tube. The dog also has a fractured tibia. Electrocardiogram has a normal rhythm, neurological and ocular exam reveal a rotatory nystagmus of the eyes. Patellar reflex responds normally.

My question is what would the recovery guidelines be for the owner. And would the dog be required to stay overnight at a veterinary hospital.

I don't know what the recovery guidelines would be, but it would need to stay overnight since still on IV fluids and I'm assuming observation because of the nystagmus. The tibia would still need to be casted or have surgery depending on how severe the fracture / fractures were. Have you ruled out a diaphragmatic hernia?
