Nut allergy sufferers...?

I have recently found out I have a nut allergy...all kinds.

What places are safe to eat at? Fast food, sit down, any that you have had a safe expeirence at. Thank you!

Yeah...my Dr confirmed it for me today. He gave me an epi pen to carry so I am not AS paranoid.lol
I like the idea of emailing to ask!

I saw your question yesterday - it looks like you had your visit with the allergist! My wife is allergic to all sorts of foods, including some nuts. Its really very difficult to predict what foods are a problem because nuts or nut by-products are used in all sorts of things - like almond extract and peanut oil used for deep frying. Many times, people working at a restaurant don't know what is in the food they serve, so, eating out is always a risk. My wife carries an epi-pen to inject epinephrine when she has a bad reaction to food. This has probably saved her life several times. You might ask your parents or your doctor about carrying one.

With most commercially prepared food - like brand name foods sold in a store (like Oreos or Fruit Loops, etc), you can find out if nuts are used by looking at the label. For fast food restaurants, you can usually find out what's in their products by looking on their web pages, or sometimes by e-mailing the company. You have to keep checking on foods you eat because they sometimes switch ingredients.

Some people choose to get desensitized to food allergies by taking a series of shots. This is a very safe method, but isn't always entirely effective.
