Advice please on travel in France for a severe nut allergy sufferer.?

My grandson (aged 10) is travelling to France on a camping holiday. He has a severe nut allergy to several nut types. Can anybody tell us if food over there has nut warnings, and offer any advice on travelling and eating in France for a person with allergies.

Does anybody have any knowledge of french allergy labelling?

You can key in nut allergy translation cards and will find many who charge a fortune (not sure if you are uk or us). However this site supposedly provides the info for free. There is another site I used myself before which had them on the page but I cannot find it now.

You could give him a note, carefully written in French, which explains his allergy, and then he could show this note to every waiter and waitress.??

teach him a simple sentence in French, i am allergic to nuts, plus an email from you reminding all teaches attending as well as the head teacher

I always carry a EpiPen which injects adrenaline if i have a reaction, thankfully i have not used it yet but i also have a anaphylactic shock box which has antihistamine and steroid tablets. My advice is not to travel without a these especially a EpiPen.
I have been to France alot and when i eat anywhere in the world I always ask if there are nuts in the food or if the food has been fried in nut oil

I think it is illegal not to have allergy warnings on foods, however, if food is homemade etc, it may be harder to tell. I would suggest keeping a note on him that says I have a severe nut allergy in french, although this may not be necessary as English is widely spoke in France, its best to be safe than sorry.
I think 'j'ai une allergie de noix' means I have a nut allergy.
'Contient des noix ? ' means 'Contains nuts?'

I would also suggest that an Epipen or any other medication is at hand at all times.
