Traveling to Italy and I don't speak italian I have a nut allergy when eating how can i avoid having a problem |
The title pretty much sums it up, do they cook with a lot of nuts over there? I'm not allergic to peanuts only tree nuts. How can i be sure what I'm eating is safe my allergy is vary serious Thanks so much for the phrases! Here's some Italian words for different kind of nuts: "i do not speak much italian but i am allergic to nuts. is the [enter title of food here] made with nuts?" You should get the details of your alergy translated into Italian and written on a card, emphasising th seriousness of it. That way you can just show the card everywhere you eat Get several cards printed in case you lose one, and get them laminated to protect them Look before you eat. carry a English-Italian dictionary. On arrival in Italy talk to your aquaintants there and ask them to write down in ITALIAN that you are allergic to tree oil and requesting for food that contains no tree oils like Olive oil, coconut oil etc. You can carry that slip around and show to the bearers or stewards and get help. Later you can preserve the slip as a souvenir of your adventure in Italy. Well i would say to carry a form that you can show when you go to eat , or buy something to eat, that you can not have that, cause it could kill you, they do make those, also get a blaclet or something to wear in case. Write your phrases in italian on a card with a list of nuts below it. You could use the printable business cards and instead of having print show the traditional landscape way, switch it to be long up and down so you can list all kinds of nuts. Maybe print in english on the other side for places that do understand english. The waitress could give the card to the cook to ensure no nuts in your food. Are you bringing your Epi-Pen? Don't forget the written prescription & find out how you should pack it because of the new airplane restrictions on liquids. They may also think of the needle in the Epi-Pen a dangerous weapon. You may need to find a pharmacy in Italy to fill your Epi-Pen when you get there. |
