Peanuts (Nut Allergy Q.)? |
Ok I got tested for allergies when I was 14 now 17. They said I was very allergic to peanuts. MY QUSTION IS WHAT IS IN A NUT MIX? ALSO CAN I HAVE PINE NUT? It was one of those like 15 diff types of needle of mixes of mold for example. I got tested for allergies and they kind of tested me by sticking around 50plus needles of different known food stuff on either fore arms. They also told me that I was very allergic to peanuts and which happens to be my favorite. The final conclusion was that I was allergic to 90% of food stuff. In your case it could possibly be that they must be testing you for all toxins derived from edible nuts. These tests are done to check out which stuff is toxic for us by studying how our body reacts to these minute quantities injected into us. Depending on the swelling at the place of the prick and using some scale they decide how toxic is that particular stuff. When I was told that I was allergic to over 90 % of food stuff I inquired with them what I should be doing and they were kind of prepared to put me on some immunity altering injections and drugs. When I consulted certain other doctors all that they could say was we really wouldn't be able to predict the outcome and one of them even asked me to go home and eat whatever I could in moderation. After that I have kind of begun eating each and everything and now I don't seem to have that severity of allergy. I would however suggest that you try out whatever you want to eat in little quantities first and then see if any change is there like itching, rashes etc. If there is stop it if not go ahead nothing will happen. Best of Luck I'd be careful and stay away from nuts, until u consult ur doctor. Ask him what are ur restictions. In a nut mix usually; regular peanuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, and sometimes brazils and hazelnuts (reading this directly off of a Planters peanut mix I have here right now). Pine nuts......... hmmmmmmm. Typically, if you can't have peanuts, which is a vegetable, you can still have tree nuts such as almonds and pine nuts. I would stay away from mixed nuts or those that are processed in plant that process peanuts - that could be trouble. Packages nowdays will print a message under the ingredients regarding their processing practices. When in doubt - don't eat it! I would stay away from nuts I hope that you are carrying an epi pen and that you don't eat at chick fil la because they cook all of there food in peanut oil. Peanut allergies are VERY DANGEROUS and even a little bit, this includes peanut oil as well can make you very sick very fast. BEWARE !!! Peanuts are a legume like peas. A peanut is really not a "nut". Tree nuts (almonds, chestnuts, brazil nuts, & PINE NUTS) should be perfectly fine for you. I would strongly suggest that you check with your doctors to know for sure. Always read the ingredients on anything you buy, It is also very important that you carry an epinephrine pen, also known as an epi-pen. I nearly died from allergies and had the misfortune to attend a funeral of a 16year old girl from eating french fries cooked in peanut oil at a local chicken establishment. If she had had an epi-pen, there would be a chance that she would be still alive today. |
